Thousands of Iranians lined the streets of Tehran on Sunday to mourn Morteza Pashaei, an Iranian singer who died because of cancer. Pashaei, who was only 30, has been struggling with stomach cancer for months and after failing chemotherapy he died on Friday morning. His funeral took place Sunday and a lot of young fans were mourning as his casket was carried through central Tehran. “His body could not be transferred to its resting place because of overcrowding and the burial had to be postponed,” Press TV reported. Despite his illness, Pashaei continued to perform publicly, giving his last concert last month. “After losing his hair because of chemotherapy, he began wearing a fedora and sunglasses,” noted the Tehran Times newspaper. In other cities of Iran too, his young fans took to the streets to mourn the singer. Some carried candles in his memory while singing his songs in his memory.
