Lionel Messi picked up a hamstring strain in Barcelona’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday, the club said. The 27-year-old played 90 minutes in Barcelona’s win and hit the post twice, before setting up the winner, scored by teenager Sandro Ramírez. “Messi has pulled an adductor muscle in right hip, and precautionary measures will be required. Tests on Tuesday should be able to determine the full extent of the injury,” Barca said in statement. Forward Munir El Haddadi has a bruised thigh whilst Messi is now likely to miss Argentina’s friendly against Germany on Wednesday – a repeat fixture of the World Cup final.
