Palestinians in the Gaza Strip marched after Friday prayers, marking the International Quds Day. Thousands of people thronged the streets of Gaza to join the rally.
The International Quds Day which is observed in over eighty countries around the globe takes place on the last Friday of the Holy fasting month of Ramadan. Late founder of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Rouhollah Khomeini declared the day back in 1979 in support for the oppressed people of Palestine. The popular front for the liberation of Palestine PFLP General Command expressed its gratitude to Imam Khomeini for his historic initiative. Activists here called on Arab countries to support the Palestinian cause and show solidarity with Jerusalem al-Quds which Palestinians consider as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Millions of people around the world took to the streets to mark al-Quds Day in solidarity with Palestinians. The protesters carried placards reading anti-Israeli slogans. They also said they are ready to sacrifice their lives to end the Israeli occupation. Rights activists also joined their fellow Palestinians in Gaza demanding an end to Israeli occupation. Like other Muslims around the world Palestinians are rallying on International Quds Day to express their abhorrence of the Israeli occupation.
