The Iranian national men’s volleyball team have achieved a superb win against their Pool B rivals Cuba as part of their heroics in the 2013 FIVB World League in a thrilling five - set match in the Cuban capital city of Havana.
Iranian sportsmen outclassed their opponents 3-2 (26-24, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, 16-14) in an extraordinary game in Havana early Saturday. The Iranian team started the match disappointingly as they lost the first and second sets 26-24 and 25-19 and seemed unable to maintain the great performance which had earned them 7 points in their previous four matches against Serbia and European powerhouse, Italy. The Iranian squad, however, came back strong with far fewer mistakes to first take the third 25-19 and win the fourth 25-22 to even the match 2-2 and force a 5th set which again ended in Iran's favor 16-14. The Iranian volleyball players finally succeeded in achieving 2 points in the standings behind Serbia with Cuba at the bottom. In the Pool B’s other match-ups, Russia beat Germany 3-2 and Italy will play Serbia.
