Iran ' s incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has met with president - elect Hassan Rohani to discuss domestic issues, especially politics and economy.

During a Tuesday meeting, President Ahmadinejad once again felicitated Rohani on his landslide victory in the 11th presidential election and wished him success.

Ahmadinejad had already issued a message on June 15, congratulating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Iranian nation, and Hojjatoleslam Rohani.

In his message, President Ahmadinejad said he believed Iran was able to reach the peaks of glory and success by relying on the nation’s trust and respecting different interests and tastes.

Rohani emerged victorious in the presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704, 156 ballots counted.

The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent according to Iran’s Interior Ministry.
