Nigeria’s football team went on strike on Thursday, missing a flight to Brazil where they are supposed to take part in the Confederations Cup which kicks off on Saturday. The Super Eagles, who are due to face Tahiti in their first Group B match on Monday, remain in Namibia following their 1-1 draw in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier. According to reports, Mikel John Obi’s team-mates were angry over unpaid bonus money promised to them after they outclassed Kenya last week. The Nigeria Football Federation denied the request with president Aminu Maigari informing the players that the organisation had no choice but to make cuts in its expenditure.
