TEHRAN –Kaleh of Iran defeated Gas Al - Janoob of Iraq and booked a place at the 2013 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship semifinals on Saturday.
In the match held at the Azadi Hall in Tehran, Kaleh beat the Iraqi representative 3-1(25–15,25–18,21–25,25–12).
The Iranian volleyball powerhouse will face the winner of Almaty of Kazakhstan and Liaoning of China on Sunday.
Al - Rayyan of Qatar and Taiwan Power Company from Chinese Taipei have already advanced to the semifinals.
“Without a doubt, we are champion. Last year, we could have won the title, but our two players were injured and we could not win the event, ” Kaleh General Manager Bahman Soleymani said.
The top ranked team at the end of the competition will be granted the only ticket at stake to the World Club Championship to be held in Brazil from October 15 to 20.
