A policeman and three army forces have been killed in a fresh wave of attacks that targeted Iraqi security personnel in the country’s north.
Three Iraqi soldiers were shot dead on Wednesday after gunmen attacked a military checkpoint in the main northern city of Mosul. The police officer lost his life when a roadside bomb detonated in the town of Muqdadiya, Diyala province. Bombings and other terrorist attacks left 271 Iraqis dead in March, marking it as the deadliest month in the country since August, according to an AFP tally. Violence has generally dropped in Iraq, yet it appears to pick up ahead of the April 20 provincial elections.
