Brigadier General Sharaf Luqman, the spokesman for the anti-regime Yemeni Army, said on Friday that his forces are ready to carry out attacks against Saudi Arabia.

According to Yemeni SABA news agency, Luqman stated that the current stage of defending the country and confronting the Saudi-led military campaign is the most important one.

The spokesman said the strategic defense operation aims to foil Saudi-led attempts to launch land attacks across Yemen.

He also said that the defense operations will include swift attacks by the Yemeni allied forces deep in Saudi Arabia as well as attacks on Saudi posts on the border region with Yemen, aimed at exhausting Saudi-led forces.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Yemeni general said the Yemeni forces have recently resorted to air defense system in order to confront the Saudi-led warplanes which attack Yemen and kill Yemeni civilians.

Since 2015, Yemen has been the scene of a brutal military campaign led by Saudi Arabia and supported by some of its regional allies including the UAE and Kuwait.

More than 12,000 civilians, including women and children, have been killed since the brink the war. Also, seven million Yemenis are subject to famine.
