Dozens of Democrat lawmakers support a bill that would give them a path to remove U.S. President Donald Trump from office if he is proved to be “mentally unfit”.

At the moment, 25 House Democrats, including the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, are backing the bill that would create a congressional oversight commission that could declare Trump incapacitated.

The move could in turn lead to Trump’s removal from office under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Raskin, a Democrat from Maryland, is calling on more colleagues to back the move to oust the U.S. president over his bizarre “outbursts” and controversial tweets.

Since assuming office, Trump has waged verbal attacks against the media, TV hosts, Muslims, immigrants, and so on.

On the campaign trail, Trump called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims” entering the United States.

In January, he issued an executive order, banning citizens of several Muslim-majority countries from entering the country.

People from those countries, including Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, are now facing tougher U.S. entry due to Trump’s controversial travel ban which he has revived after months of attempts.

The Supreme Court is expected to make a final decision on the ban when its next session begins in October.
