Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has announced that the country’s emir has received a message from Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani.
The [Qatari] Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received Saturday a verbal message from President of Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Hassan Rouhani,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari conveyed the message, during a meeting with the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani today,” the statement added.
It came 2 weeks after Saudi Arabia cut ties with Qatar over alleged support of terrorism. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt also cut ties with Doha. They also moved to cut off land, sea and air routes to Qatar.
Meanwhile, Iran called n Qatar and Saudi Arabia to settle their disputes through dialogue.
“Intensifying tension in relations among the neighboring countries does not benefit the regional governments and people when the region and the world are suffering from consequences of terrorism and extremism,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.
Qassemi also urged the countries in the Persian Gulf countries to “learn from bitter experiences in the region” and take actions in order to ease tension and restoring peace.
