Muslim Comedian Hasan Minhaj slammed U.S. President Donald Trump, calling him the “liar-in-chief” during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner (WHCA) in Washington, D.C. which was held on Saturday night.

“It is 2017 and we are living in the golden age of lying. Now is the time to be a liar and Donald Trump is liar-in-chief and remember you guys are public enemy number 1,” Minhaj said.

Trump, however, did not attend the annual event of journalists. This is the first time in decades that a serving U.S. president decided to avoid the event.

“This event is about celebrating the first amendment and free speech,” Minhaj said, adding that Trump does not care about free speech.

He also railed against White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, calling him a “Nazi”.

“Now a lot of people think that Steve Bannon is the reason Donald Trump is a racist,” he said. “That is not true. Is he here? I do not see Steve Bannon. I do not see Steve Bannon. Not see. Nazi Steve Bannon. Nazi Steve Bannon.”

White House Correspondents’ Association president Jeff Mason also roasted the U.S. president, saying “We cannot ignore the rhetoric that has been employed by the president about who we are and what we do.”

“Freedom of the press is a building block of our democracy. Undermining that by seeking to delegitimize journalists is dangerous to a healthy republic,” he noted.
