The leader of Britain First has been slammed after posting a video that he falsely claimed was of Muslims celebrating last night’s Paris terror attack.
Paul Golding tweeted a video with the caption: “Oh look, a crowd of ‘moderate’ Muslims celebrating the Paris Terror attack in London.”
But the footage was in fact shot seven years ago and actually shows Pakistani cricket fans celebrating a victory over Sri Lanka.
The tweet was met by scores of angry social media users who said the far-right leader was trying to stir up Islamophobia.
The same footage was widely shared on Facebook in 2015, captioned with a similar message.
This time the video was entitled “Muslims Around The World Celebrate The Islamic Victory In Paris France”.
It claimed that Muslims in the capital were celebrating after the Paris terror attacks in November 2015.
The footage was quickly debunked.
Golding was recently jailed for eight weeks after for breaching a court order not to enter a mosque.
