A senior Iranian political has categorically denied allegations that it has provided the Yemeni army and popular committees with weapons and missiles.
Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezaee said on Tuesday that Russia had sold a large number of missiles to the Yemeni Army prior to the Saudi war on the country.
“That they say Iran has provided Yemen with weapons and ammunition is nothing but a lie. The Yemenis had missiles from the past and before the Saudi-imposed war and they had received a large number of missiles from Russia in the past,” Rezaee said.
He said that the Yemenis’ response to Saudi aggression is natural, as the Lebanese did during the Israeli-imposed war in 2006.
Iran had also dismissed the US claims that it had been providing the Yemeni Army with arms and missiles.
“These claims are being made as the West continues to sell deadly arms to Saudi Arabia,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said.
Saudi Arabia has been conducting airstrikes against Yemen for more than a Year. Riyadh’s aggression against Yemen has killed more than 11,000 people.
Despite its claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi Arabia’s bombers have been pounding residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
