ISIS terrorist group has been reportedly trying to amass a large number of forces inside the Deir Ezzor Governorate to prepare for the upcoming offensive in-and-around the provincial capital.
“ISIS has moved a large number of fighters to this front after their failed offensive at the T-4 Airbase in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate,” Al Masdar news agency quoted a military source at the Deir Ezzor Airport as saying.
The military source said that Daesh (ISIS) is planning to attack the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the 137th Artillery Brigade's headquarters, Jabal Thardeh, and the Al-Rashidiyah District in the provincial capital.
Responding to the terrorist group’s massive mobilization of forces, the Syrian Air Force has begun bombardment of Jabal Thardeh area of Deir Ezzor, killing scores of terrorists near their stronghold last night.
The Syrian Army attempts to hold its ground, and to be able to launch a massive counter-offensive, together with its military operations inside the Palmyra countryside.
Syria has been dealing with rising level of terrorism since the beginning of unrest in 2011, when foreign backed militants started a civil war which led to a very large regional crisis.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in Syria since the beginning of the conflict.
