The Yemeni army, backed by allied fighters from the Popular Committees has attacked two military positions inside Saudi Arabia, killing at least one Saudi soldier and injuring several others.

According to Al-Masirah, one of the attacks against Saudi positions in Makhrooq area of Jizan province, in which three military vehicles were destroyed and one soldier was killed.

Dozens of Saudi soldiers were seen fleeing their positions as Yemen launched its attack against the Saudi bases.

Yemeni fighters also attacked another Saudi military base in Najran, destroying a huge depot of armaments.

The retaliatory attacks were carried out because of Saudi airstrikes against Yemen.

The news came days after Saudi warplanes targeted Yemeni province of Sana’a. The attack took several hours in an unprecedented wave of air raids against the country.

According to local media reports, Saudi army carried out 25 airstrikes against various district of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a.

Over 11,000 Yemenis, including women and children, have been killed since the beginning of the Saudi military aggression against neighboring Yemen since March 2015.

Meanwhile, international rights groups have repeatedly condemned Saudi regime over its atrocities against Yemen. They have further warned of a humanitarian crisis in the impoverished country.

Saudi Arabia’s military campaign was launched with the aim of reinstating Yemeni former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a loyal Riyadh ally.

Hadi resigned last year and fled to the Saudi capitall.
