A senior commander of a terrorist group was killed during clashes with the Syrian Army and popular forces in Salahuddin district.

Abu Omar Danial, a notorious commander of the Turkey-backed terrorist group of Nouralddeen al-Zinki, was killed in heavy clashes with Syrian government forces in Salahuddin district, Southwest of Aleppo city.

Syrian forces have in the meantime captured several building blocks in the area after hours of non-stop fighting with members of the terrorist group.

The Syrian army, backed by popular forces, also engaged in heavy clashes with Jeish al-Fatah in the districts of Sheikh Saeed, and al-Ameriyeh, pushing them out of more areas.

In another development, they continued their advances against militants near the town of Souran and Taybat al-Imam, pushing them to flee their strongholds, local sources said.

"Syrian government force, backed up by the Syrian and Russian fighter jets, stormed terrorists' bases and defense lines in the towns of Kafr Zita, al-Latamina, and near the towns of Ma'an, al-Naseriyeh and Souran, destroying militants' bases, artilleries and mortar launchers," the sources reported.

"Several terrorists were also killed and several more were injured in the Syrian soldiers' offensive in the Eastern part of Souran, backed up by air force and artillery units,” they added.

Syria has been facing a humanitarian crisis since the beginning of an uprising in 2011 which lead to chaos and destruction. Militant groups, backed by Western countries, have since taken control of many villages and towns.
