Israeli forces on Saturday morning shot dead a Palestinian in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of the Old City of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, Ma’an News reported.

The incident happened after an alleged stabbing attack. This is the second Palestinian to be killed in less than 24 hours in the neighborhood, and the fifth to be killed in less than 48 hours by Israeli forces.

The slain Palestinian was identified as 25-year-old Hatim Abd al-Hafeeth Shaludi by the local sources.

Shaludi had stabbed an Israeli soldier before he was shot dead by the forces, according to an Israeli army statement.

The soldier was slightly injured, Israeli media reported.

Also on Friday evening, a young boy named Mohammad Thalji Kayid Thalji al-Rajabi was shot dead in the Tel Rumeida area of Hebron’s Old City after injuring an Israeli soldier.

At least 226 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since a wave of unrest first hit the occupied Palestinian territory in October.

The recent deaths indicate the highest quantity of Palestinians being killed in recent months. Three Palestinians were also killed in less than 48 hours on June 2016. The incident happened after they allegedly attacked two Israelis.

Israel has been under fire for the apparent extrajudicial executions of Palestinians.
