"The speeches of a group of Muslim preachers who claim themselves as Salafis have created a division in the society and have prompted the non-Muslims to look at Muslims with suspicion and distrust. This is very unfortunate because it is done in the name of Mujahid movement which brought renaissance among the Muslim community," said B P A Gafoor, the secretary of the KNM and the convener of the campaign.
"These preachers who go for a literal reading of Quran have wreaked havoc in the society and caused harm to the religion. Our campaign is aimed at controlling the damages done by these groups. We never realised that things had dipped to such a level," Gafoor added.
Prominent religious figures from all faiths will be attending the “Manava Maithree Samghamam” which will be held in different parts of India.
