Hawaiian representative Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat who is very critical of the Obama administration’s foreign policy, has recently denounced the administration on Twitter, saying that it arms ISIS and Al-Qaeda.

"If you or I gave money, weapons or support to al-Qaeda or ISIS, we would be thrown in jail. Why does our gov get a free pass on this?” She recently Tweeted

The day after she tweeted “We must prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to provide weapons/support to al-Qaeda, ISIS & other terrorist groups. Period.”

Gabbard has of late spearheaded efforts to cut funding to both these terrorist groups by the US, by introducing a bill known as the Stop Arming Terrorist Act, which would make it illegal for US funds to be used to that end.

In her speech in which she introduced the bill, she accused the government of breaking its own laws:

“Under U.S. law, it is illegal for you or me, or any American, to provide any type of assistance to al-Qaida, ISIS or other terrorist groups. If we broke this law we’d be thrown in jail. Yet the U.S. government has been breaking this law for years, directly and indirectly supporting allies and partners of groups like al-Qaida and ISIS with money, weapons, intelligence, and other support in their fight to overthrow the Syrian government.”

Wikileaks had revealed that the U.S, Saudi Arabia, and “Israel”, had been planning to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since back in 2006 to destabilize the region.

The bill singles out aid to al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Jabhat Fateh al-Sham (effectively Nusra’s rebranded image) to prevent them from receiving any aid from the West.
